The role of 500 mg ethionamide and 400 mg isoniazid, given in a single dose orally at bed time was assessed in 45 previously un- treated middle aged and elderly cases of pul- monary tuberculosis. 90% sputum conversion was obtained. If those who fell out of the trial due to drug intolerance the conversion rate was 81.5%. The drugs, in the dosage given, were very well tolerated.
