AbstractObjective: In this descriptive study, it’s aimed to investigate the relationship between evaluation of clinic environment and the job satisfaction of doctors and nurses, who work in mental health and illnesses hospital. Methods: 38 nurses and 12 doctors who work in a mental health and illnesses hospital, accepted to participate in this study. Data was collected with Personal Information Form, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale and Ward Atmosphere Scale-Form R. Results: General (3.4±0.5), internal (3.4±0.6) and external work satisfaction (3.3±0.6) of doctors and nurses were moderate level. Doctors and nurses evaluated autonomy, practical orientation, cont-rol of staff and participation in clinic environment as insufficient. But they evaluated support, spontonite, personal problem orientation, anger and aggression, arrangement and organization and program policy as sufficient. The results of the research about the relationship between job satisfaction and evaluation of clinic environment show that there is a weak positive correlation between autonomy subscale, general job satisfaction (r=0.393, p<0.005) and internal job satisfaction (r=0.391, p<0.005). There is a weak positive correlation between practical orientation subscale, general job satisfaction (r=0.429, p=0.002) and internal job satisfaction (r=0.477, p=0.001). Conclusion: In psychiatric clinics, developing patients’ autonomy and interventions for preparing living in community will increase job satisfaction of doctors and nurses.
