Abstract

In this paper, the here and now principle in reviewed in the context of Gestalt therapy. Time is considered as a natural concept that becomes complicated when it is tried to be understood. It is suggested that here and now principle focuses on “now” for clarifying the transition between past, present and future. “Present” origins from experiences of past and constitutes a projection to the future. Here and now principle, time concept, their implications on therapy and reflections to the patient - therapist relationship are discussed by means of case examples.
