AbstractOn observing that Madras liquid BCG vaccine had started inducing lower levels of allergy, a study was carried out to compare it with Danish vaccine in terms of strain of BCG used, production methods and age of vaccine. Results showed that there was no variability in the vaccines. Though the Madras and Danish vaccines were found to be similar, the BCG strain used in Madras seemed to be inferior to that used in Denmark and the Madras laboratory perhaps manufactured better vaccines than the Copenhagen labora- tory. The vaccine manufactured from Danish BCG strain in Madras was found to be the best vaccine.
