Abstract

A comprehensive review of work done on tuberculosis of different species of animals, including poultry, has been presented. The review beginning from the earliest record of the disease, in the first decade of this century, when it was considered to be a rare, nonprogressive type of disease, to the latest work done on the incidence, typing of the organisms, pathology, clinical pathology, diagnostic procedures, chemotherapy, control and eradication etc. has been compiled. Care has been taken to mention the zoonotic aspects and the areas where further work is needed.
