AbstractKidney biopsy findings in 30 patients of pulmonary tuberculosis were studied. Abnormal renal histology was detected in 70% of these patients. These changes included the specific finding of tuberculosis, as well as other non-speci-fic histological alterations. Urine abnormality in the form of pyuria and/or albuminuria are significant pointers to the renal involvement. Kidney involvement in pulmonary tuberculosis is not influenced by the duration of illness and severity of pulmonary lesion. Effect of anti-tubercular treatment on these lesions needs further evaluation.
