Abstract

Biliary surgery has always represented a challenge for the surgeon. The anatomic variants in this area demand careful technique and identification of structures. One variant is agenesis of the gallbladder. Fewer than 300 cases have been reported since the first was reported by Lemery in 1701.The dilemma usually arises during the surgical procedure in which the gallbladder cannot be found. Many diagnostic approaches, peri-operative management suggestions, and follow-up plans have been described. We report two cases and review of the literature.
