Genital involvement in 200 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis cases was studied. As high as 13% of these cases had genital tuberculosis. Meticulous and repeated histopathological studies are necessary to establish the diagnosis. Occurence of genital tuberculosis in these cases is more frequent in pulmonary tuberculosis of shorter duration (p<0.001), but it has absolutely no relation with the severity of pulmonary lesions and other parameters. In addition to the direct effect, tuberculosis also affects the genital tract of females indirectly in almost all cases, giving rise to various gynaecological symptoms and signs.
