Abstract

Serial oral glucose tolerance test was performed before and after anti-tuberculous chemotherapy on 52 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis. Initially, 23 patients had impaired glucose tolerance, while 2 were diabetics. Anti-tuberculous chemotherapy had a salutary effect on the impaired glucose tolerance observed initially. Correlation between the radiological extent of lesion initially and impaired glucose tolerance just failed to achieve statistical significance, but the results were highly suggestive of a positive association with the cavitary status.
