Serum mucoprotein and mucopolysaccharide levels were measured in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and nontuberculous respiratory diseases. In these patients glucose tolerance was also studied. In tuberculosis both serum mucoprotein and mucopclysaccharide levels were found to be significantly increased. These subjects also showed abnormal glucose tolerance. It is suggested that the increased serum levels of the two constituents may be due to their increased synthesis in these patients. This may have same diagnostic value.
