Abstract

Sixteen cases (15 females and 1 male) of tuberculous mastitis (TM) constituted 2.05% of all the lesions of breast biopsied during a period of 16 years. Thirteen of these were of child bearing age. It was associated with infiltrating duct carcinoma in 1 case. It is felt that tuberculosis should still be considered in the differential diagnoses of the breast lumps, particularly in this geographic region.
