Abstract

Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani (ASU) drugs are time immemorially used for health care benefit of common man. Domestically these are presumed to be safe. There was a Boom in usage of ASU drugs and exports went high than usual in the last two decades. When JAMA published an article in 2004, ASU Drugs Boomeranged from their destinations. Stringent standardization procedures came into act by the efficient efforts taken by AYUSH Department, Govt. of India. In this paper an attempt was made to fix a standard for cinnabar and its preparations using powder x-ray diffraction method.
