Abstract

This work mainly focus on the potential antibacterial value of various extracts of Andrographis paniculata against various pathogenic microorganisms by employing disk diffusion method. In Siddha system of medicine the herb Nilavembu (A.paniculata) used to treat various ailments including infectious diseases even viral origin too according to its pharmacodynamics. But this work highlights its antibacterial sensitivity in par with modern standard antibiotics. The results are quite encouraging, further studies needed.
