Abstract

In this short paper, it is our purpose to discuss tuberculous meningitis and its management, dealing especially with some aspects of our own experience. The cases comprise those of adults (above the age of 12 years) admitted into one of the medical units of the Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, South India. Twelve cases were studied during the period 1953-54 (up to time of writing). Factors in the manifestations, diagnosis and treatment and complications will be discussed. We have, however, cited examples of cases studied at an earlier period, for purposes of comparison, or to mention some particular features of importance.
