Pulmonary tuberculosis is the principal cause of invalidation in the Indian Army today. Invalidation rate is the proportion of the total average strength that is invalided out, and expressed as a ratio per thousand. In Table I the invalidation rates for Pulmonary Tuberculosis are shown in relation to injuries (NEA) and psychiatric diseases— the two other important causes of invalidation.
