Abstract

The cultural and biochemical characteristics have been studied in 50 strains of acid-fast bacilli isolated from cases of pul- monary tuberculosis. Four strains have been classified as scotochromogens. They produced a yellow to orange coloured pigment. The incidence of chromogenic acid fast bacilli obtained in this series is 8%.
